Capitalism vs. Love

Economics isn’t just for elites in ivory towers. Each one of us needs to understand capitalism if we want to lead more fulfilling and liberated lives. Our global economic system doesn’t just affect our  finances. It shapes our personal lives on the most intimate level – down to our identities, our health and our emotional wellbeing, and even our closest relationships, the ways we love. In Capitalism vs Love, participants will learn exactly what capitalism is and how it works – in a way that is accessible and fun. They will analyse how our economic system affects their own personal lives. And they will create their own personal vision for a new economy that lifts them up and helps them thrive.

  • Learners in this class will walk away with:

    • A deep understanding of what capitalism is and how it works - in a way that is accessible and that will enable them to go away and share with their friends.

    • A practical understanding of the ways in which systems of oppression – including racism, class, sexism, transphobia, homophobia and ableism – are hotwired into our economic system.

    • A personal analysis of the ways in which our economic system is shaping their own lives.

    • A personal vision for an economy that would help them thrive.

    • Action steps for making their vision a reality.

    • A deep, grounded understanding of intersectionality – and the root that connects all systems of oppression.

    • Those feeling dissatisfied with what life is offering them and want to learn the root causes of their experience and make a change.

    • Those working towards liberation who want to understand the roots of oppression and injustice in our global economic system.

    • Those trained in economics who want to deepen and expand their knowledge beyond orthodox theories.

  • Learners will conduct their own analysis of the ways in which our economic system affects their personal lives; create a vision for a new economic system that would support them to thrive; and create action steps for making that vision of reality.
